FAQ’s for Prospective and Incoming Students
We appreciate this is a time of global uncertainty. Our staff at the DeGroote School of Business continue to be available to support our current and future students.
Is DeGroote welcoming new students in fall 2020?
Yes! McMaster is following public health advice from our provincial and federal governments. At this time we are continuing to plan for the start of our Onboarding programs and fall term.
Have your application deadlines changed?
Our international application deadline of March 31st remains unchanged.
We have a few seats remaining for exceptional domestic/PR candidates whose plans for fall 2020 may have changed. These candidates will have until July 1st to apply. For more information, we invite you to talk to a recruiter or begin your application here.
GMAT and language testing centres are closed. Can I still apply?
Yes, we welcome your application! When we review an application we look holistically at the candidate’s full profile – education, work experience and community engagement. We will proceed with conditional offers to applicants who have a strong profile, but are waiting to write a GMAT, TOEFL or IELTS (if required).
What happens if I cannot get an official transcript?
We understand many university campuses around the world are closed or staff are working remotely. Please include an unofficial transcript with your application. We will be issuing conditional offers and will be flexible around the timing for clearing conditions.
What does a conditional offer mean?
It means you can start the program – even if you have not cleared your conditions (e.g. cannot submit a GMAT score because the testing centres are closed). More details will be shared in the coming weeks.
Is DeGroote still reviewing applications and making admission offers?
Yes, our Admission Committee continues to review files every week.
Can I defer my offer for fall 2020?
All requests for deferrals to fall 2021 will be handled on a case by case basis. Please email email@example.com to make this request.
I have sent a transcript. Can you confirm you received it?
McMaster is still receiving mail and courier packages, however our team is working remotely. Your documents are safe. When we return to the office we will send confirmation of documents received. We thank you in advance for your patience.
