About the pathway
The W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology in the Faculty of Engineering and the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University have created a new opportunity for graduates of the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programs in Automation Systems Engineering Technology, Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology, and Biotechnology.
Graduates of McMaster University’s Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programs, who started in 2019 and later, in Automation Systems Engineering Technology, Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology, and Biotechnology are eligible to apply to DeGroote’s Accelerated MBA.
This pathway is only applicable to the following streams within the McMaster BTech Program:
- Automation Systems Engineering Technology (Co-op)
- Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology (Co-op)
- Biotechnology (Co-op)
BTech Students are also required to complete the following 2 courses before applying to the Accelerated MBA program with a minimum of B grade.
- COMMERCE 2AB3 – Managerial Accounting
- COMMERCE 2FB3 – Managerial Finance

Length of study
The full-time program is 8 months, while the part-time option takes 20 months to complete.

GMAT
A GMAT is not required if the student has a competitive GPA in their final two years (or last 20 courses) of undergraduate study.

Work experience
Bachelor of Technology graduates can apply with one year of managerial, professional, or technical work experience, including undergraduate Co-op or internship placements.

Only McMaster University Bachelor of Technology (BTech) who started the program in 2019 and later, of the following streams are eligible to apply to the Accelerated MBA.

Regardless of stream, the following courses will need to be completed with a minimum grade of B.
- COMMERCE 2AB3 – Managerial Accounting
- COMMERCE 2FB3 – Managerial Finance
If you complete the Accelerated MBA program on a part-time basis, it will take approximately two years. Classes are delivered in-person at our campus in Burlington, Ontario. Your weekly course schedule will ultimately depend on the classes you select.
If you are pursuing the Accelerated MBA full-time, you may be eligible for scholarships and bursaries in September. The requirements for scholarships and bursaries vary, so please read the application instructions carefully prior to applying. Scholarships are not available to students who pursue the Accelerated MBA program on a part-time basis.
The GMAT is currently not required for admission to the Accelerated MBA program, provided you have a competitive GPA. You can view our GPA requirements here.
If you do not meet these GPA requirements, you may want to consider taking the GMAT examination to strengthen your profile during the admissions process.
The Accelerated MBA program consists of two mandatory courses and eight electives.
