Why DeGroote?

I was drawn to the idea of trying different healthcare positions in three separate co-op terms, to help narrow in on what type of role I want to pursue after graduation. I also loved the extensive network of healthcare co-op employers, the convenient location of the campus, and the price tag!

Why an MBA?

I pursued an MBA to complement my science background and formally develop my business acumen. I chose McMaster’s co-op program because the opportunity to explore different roles in the co-ops would help me to narrow down where I want to grow my career. This program allowed me to do that, while developing my skills, making great friends and developing my network.

What surprised you about DeGroote?

I’m surprised by how flexible DeGroote was with us picking courses for exchange. I am currently taking a french course in France that is counting towards my degree! This is such a great opportunity to brush up on my French skills before graduation.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?

Do your research, pick the school that is the best fit for you, and prepare to work really hard!

What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?

My first co-op at William Osler was incredible! I had the most amazing and supportive manager, and was able to really learn how the hospital works. I did a lot of shadowing of meetings and departments and had a coffee chat with the CEO! I learned so much in those four months and have been able to bring that knowledge to my co-op and coursework.

Aside from being an MBA Student Ambassador, what other extra-curricular activities have you been involved with while at DeGroote?

Tell us one fun fact about you!

I am part of a Slovak Folklore dance group, Vychodna Slovak Dancers. We celebrated our 35th anniversary this year with a huge performance and are travelling to Slovakia in November to compete in their folklore version of America’s Got Talent!
