Why an MBA?

With an undergrad in Engineering, I had limited exposure to business academics. After working four years in a leading Indian bank, I was promoted to a managerial role. That’s when I realized that there is a lot that needs to be learned in terms of managerial and people skills. An MBA was the right choice to gain managerial skills as well as an academic exposure to business.

What surprised you about DeGroote?

The biggest factors which attracted me towards DeGroote are its established alumni network and co-op opportunities. I believe that this is the only program that focuses not only on academic achievement but also providing quality real-world work experience to develop students into future leaders. Diversity is one of the biggest strengths of DeGroote and learning from my colleagues in the program has been one of the biggest catalysts in my growth as a professional.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?

My piece of advice for job searches: Don’t be afraid to ask for coffee chats. When sending out coffee chat requests, make sure to mention your particular interest in the company/work of the professional and why you want to meet him/her.

What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?

During Foundations, I had the opportunity to attend a talk from Mr. Alfredo Tan. His speech was very inspirational and motivated me that we can always move to the industry we want no matter what our background.
