Why DeGroote?

Choosing the co-op MBA program at DeGroote was a clear choice! DeGroote provides the opportunity for students to pursue three professional work terms within their specialization. A program of this kind is very unique and offers candidates valuable career insight and professional work experience. Ensuring my graduate level education provided me with the industry knowledge necessary to make informed, data-driven decisions was a key criterion of mine. After extensive research and networking, it was made clear that DeGroote’s Health Services Management specialization would help me acquire the industry knowledge capable of driving systematic change in healthcare.

Why an MBA?

I decided to pursue my MBA because I knew it would allow me to build my professional network and foster relationships in a competitive, yet team-based environment. I chose a program that would help to diversify my expertise and equip me with the business acumen necessary to compete in the aggressive workforce. As a graduate student, I aim to differentiate myself and become competitive in the rapidly evolving healthcare industry that we see today. The reputable DeGroote MBA program would help build upon the skillset I had with the leadership role I aim to obtain.

What surprised you about DeGroote?

The people! DeGroote truly offers a tight-knit community. From my welcoming recruitment experience, to my fellow candidates, professors, career team and everything in between – the culture at DeGroote is quite remarkable. I didn’t expect it to be so easy to reach out to seniors in the program and have so many classmates to lean on! I can’t say enough about our DeGroote community.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?

Begin connecting with alumni and organizations you’re interested in, early on – one simple message has the potential to help shape your career path and/or future co-op roles!

What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?

Receiving the DeGroote MBA Cup in the first semester of my MBA has been the highlight of my DeGroote experience thus far! It was a pleasure to be able to work with such a talented and hardworking team. These individuals will continue to be close friends of mine throughout my MBA and beyond!
