Why DeGroote?

McMaster is well known for the abundant resources and support that it provides students with – which I got to experience firsthand as an undergraduate student. Therefore, choosing to come back and pursue my master’s at DeGroote was the easiest decision I ever made! I knew I would be joining a tight-knit community, be well supported as a student, and provided with the tools I need to succeed in my professional career.

Why an MBA?

As a science undergrad attempting to dive into the business world, an MBA is the only logical step in advancing my career. Aside from being a great way to open up my network and meet people in various disciplines, an MBA will allow me to gain the proper business acumen needed to succeed in today’s changing business environment. The various coop terms allow me to gain invaluable experience and equip me with the tools necessary to transition from a student to a powerful leader in the industry. Being an experiential-based program, the DeGroote MBA program will enhance my leadership skills, my critical thinking skills and my ability to work within a team.

What surprised you about DeGroote?

What surprised me the most about DeGroote is the amount of support I received both prior to my MBA and throughout my graduate journey. As a prospective applicant, I was able to connect with ease to so many current students, alumni and even staff members to learn more about the program. As a current student, I have a huge community to lean on in order to develop both personally and professionally as I navigate my MBA.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?

Be curious and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way – the only way to grow is to seek discomfort!

What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?

The greatest highlight by far are the friends I’ve made along the way! DeGroote gave me the opportunity to build relationships with like-minded individuals from a variety of different backgrounds – a crucial support system throughout my MBA journey. Take the time to get to know your peers and make some incredible life-long friends during your time in the program.

Aside from being an MBA Student Ambassador, what other extra-curricular activities have you been involved with while at DeGroote?
