Why an MBA?
Having graduated with a Kinesiology degree from McMaster, I knew that I wanted to develop my business acumen to successfully transition to the commercial side of the healthcare industry and develop a more comprehensive understanding of what a strong leader looks like. I knew that an MBA would allow me to gain a greater awareness of leadership, business, and management principles, learn about different fields within various Canadian industries, expand my professional network, and continuously learn from a diverse group of individuals.
What surprised you about DeGroote?
I was incredibly surprised by DeGroote’s open, collaborative, and compassionate student culture! Everyone within the program is incredibly receptive, welcoming, and considerate, and always rooting for one another’s success.
What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?
Don’t be afraid to contribute in any way you can; every student within the program has their own unique strengths – it’s what makes the environment at DeGroote so stimulating and diverse!
What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?
The highlight of my DeGroote experience has been receiving the opportunity to explore and study a variety of fields within business. Many of the available classes have opened my eyes to different career paths that can be pursued, and having the chance to learn from other students and their experiences in these classes is also extremely insightful!
