Why DeGroote?

I chose DeGroote primarily because of its coop program. As I was hoping to do a transition in my career, I felt that the coop experiences would be valuable to my pivot to gain industry knowledge and boost my resume. By attending a couple of the information sessions, I also realized that the school had a very supportive and growth-oriented culture, which I knew I wanted to be a part of.

Why an MBA?

I chose to do my MBA because I wanted to pivot from nursing into business. I knew this degree would allow me to do that, while learning the essential knowledge and gaining the experiences needed to transition into a new field.

What surprised you about DeGroote?

Everyone is like family – your fellow classmates and faculty care about each other deeply and want to see you succeed. I know I always have the support I need to grow both academically and professionally.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?

Be open-minded and willing to grow because there are limitless opportunities – I did not know that I would transition into finance when I started the program, but the coop stream allowed me try different fields and find what I’m truly passionate about.

What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?

The people – both the faculty and student body have been like family since day one, even when we were virtual. I have made an amazing network and found some life-long friends throughout this experience.
