Through the practical opportunities to apply my knowledge through the Integrated Project, and three Co-op roles, I grew as a problem-solver and team player.
Why DeGroote?
DeGroote Coop program is Canada’s largest and oldest Co-op Program. Through the coop MBA, I will have an opportunity to integrate classroom education with up to 12 months of paid work experience (three work terms), Through my Co-op roles, will gain valuable experience while exploring career options and building my professional network. It will also help me to gain a better understanding of the Canadian industry.
Why an MBA?
An MBA is the only integrated education program that can give me the skills required to be an effective leader. I wanted the MBA now as a further continuation in my current role would have only deepened my technological skills, without giving me business operations insight or exposure.
At DeGroote, I got these skills through courses such as ‘Managing Organizations’, ‘Economics and Business Statistics’, and ‘Competing through Digital Transformation and Analytics’, in addition to other courses on marketing, operations, and finance.
Application is as critical as knowledge for a business leader. Through the practical opportunities to apply my knowledge through the Integrated Project, and three Co-op roles, I grew as a problem-solver and team player.
Further, a business leader needs to be an effective change leader too. Through DeGroote Day Challenges, I will learn to solve business problems in a time-based format. Having been a leader across multiple social initiatives, I am also keen to grow my skills through DeGroote MBAs for Impact, and the Pitching in for Charity Challenge, gaining skills while also creating value for others.
What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?
This is the best program to explore opportunities in the Canadian work environment. Come with open minds and see what this wonderful MBA program has to offer.
What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?
The first Co-op that gave me chance to grow as a product manager.
