Tell us about your journey.  Why did you choose to pursue your MBA, and why at DeGroote?

I needed to do something with my career. I had been living in Canada for almost 10 years, but had no education here. I saw the MBA as a way to conquer my professional aspirations, get additional business skills and network.

DeGroote was the best option for me, because it has the longest running and biggest MBA with Co-op in Canada. It was the best cost-benefit among other business school that I researched.

Tell us a little bit about your experience at DeGroote. What associations or activities were you part of? What did you enjoy at the School?

I have been attending all panels related to marketing and general business I can. It is great to hear the insights and opinions from top professionals who make the difference in the marketplace.

I enjoy when companies come to the school to give their corporate presentation, and we not only learn firsthand about the company, but also, we can interact with the professionals and make questions to them.

How has the Career Services and Professional Development (CPD) team assisted you with the development of your professional skills?

The Career Services and Professional Development (CPD) team has been vital for my success! I got internships in world class companies because I had the right coaching, Resume and Cover Letter preparation, mock interviews, and feedback that I needed during the recruiting processes.

When I came to DeGroote I had a lot to be developed, and the CPD team made it possible. They are experienced professionals, who prepare themselves to assist us even before we meet. They research about the companies we are applying for internships, so they have the right advice.

I learned a lot from them, and their work will be useful to my career also after the MBA.

In what ways have you grown since you started the program?

A MBA with Co-op gave the opportunity grow in both soft and hard skills. During the internships I could develop hard skills and add valuable credentials and experiences to my Resumes.

For the academic part, I not only got more in-depth knowledge in my area to expertise, but also had exposure and got information in business areas that I never had opportunity before, such as Finance and Accounting, that contribute to me as professional with holistic business view.

I definitely developed my presentation skills and job interview skills as well.

Is there anything you would like to add?

By my graduation at DeGroote School of Business I am going to be a different professional that started the MBA program. Besides the academic knowledge, I will have the hands-on work experience and the name of great organizations that I had the opportunity to be part of. I will also be part of the DeGroote community, and have the network with my former colleagues.
