Why DeGroote?

DeGroote boasts an incredible reputation, an extensive network of alumni, and a welcoming community. Through DeGroote, I was given the opportunity to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, learn new skills, and challenge myself every day.

Why an MBA?

Coming from a life sciences background, I sought to transition away from the lab bench towards a career where I could make more impactful and direct contributions to the health sector. An MBA offered the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and supplement my science background with business acumen. By leveraging these two distinct skill sets, I have opened the door to many new and exciting career opportunities.

What surprised you about DeGroote?

The people. Everyone at DeGroote including the staff, faculty and student body are very welcoming and incredibly proficient at what they do. Rather than pitting students against each other and encouraging high levels of competition, DeGroote truly embraced a collaborative approach to education where everyone is placed in a position to achieve their best.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?

Change is scary and beginning a new journey can be difficult but don’t let that hold you back from applying. Also never hesitate to reach out to members of the DeGroote community for advice.

What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?

Getting the opportunity to meet and network with so many talented people. I have truly made life-long friends in this program. DeGroote has provided the opportunity to connect with other students both inside and outside of the classroom. For instance, this year we formed a team to compete in the largest MBA hockey tournament in North America, the Ivey Cup.
