The community here at DeGroote surprised me the most once I started my MBA journey. Professors, faculty and my fellow students became like a large family to me and the support I have received from them has been truly amazing.

Why DeGroote?

To propel me into a new career at the management level. I aspire to be a leader in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry. Unfortunately, prior to my MBA I did not have any experience in this field and my primary focus for my MBA was the chance to gain work experience via co-ops and ultimately get experience in the CPG industry. The MBA will also provide me with opportunities to excel at work and hopefully move up to an executive role one day.

Why an MBA?

Prior to joining DeGroote MBA Co-op program I was working in financial services. It was my first job after my undergraduate studies and I was learning so much. However the most important thing I learned from my experience was where my passion truly lies and the importance of doing something you love so that work doesn’t feel like work. I have always been passionate about marketing and dreamt of becoming a leader in the marketing industry. I knew then that an MBA would be a step in the right direction to develop my skills as a leader and gain experience in a new industry.

What surprised you about DeGroote?

The community here at DeGroote surprised me the most once I started my MBA journey. Professors, faculty and my fellow students became like a large family to me and the support I have received from them has been truly amazing. Further, DeGroote’s Alumni network is extensive and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and learning from many Alumni over the last year. It was a pleasant surprise to learn how open and helpful everyone was in the DeGroote community.

What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?

The 48 hour case competition in my first year. Although it was a grueling experience it was also exhilarating to work on a real problem for a big company such as Canadian Tire Corporation. Winning second place and presenting our case at the corporate head office was an experience I will also take with me.

Aside from being a MBA Student Ambassador, what other extra-curricular activities have you been involved with while at DeGroote?
